Remote Laboratory Assessments

AASHTO re:source is pleased to announce the addition of remote assessments to our list of services for the Laboratory Assessment Program. Due to the restrictions in place during this challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are now offering laboratories the ability to receive assessments and accreditation through the use of live video technology. Please note this is not a permanent change to our services; we will resume on-site assessments as soon as it is safe to do so.

A remote assessment is conducted using a combination of desktop auditing, online web conferencing, and video streaming in order to obtain evidence of compliance to quality management system and testing standards. Review the Policy and Guidance on Remote Assessments for full details.

Check out the FAQs and Tests and Fees pages for those details regarding remote laboratory assessments.

A remote assessment infographicflowchart and checklist are also available for more information.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page for a short video tutorial.

Review the Remote Assessment Documentation Guide to see what documentation you will need to submit prior to your remote assessment.

Present by Laboratory Assessment Program staff. This presentation reviews best practices when preparing for a remote assessment. Whether your laboratory is getting ready for its first assessment or it is the first time being conducted remotely, this webinar will help set your laboratory up for a successful assessment. After a brief presentation covering the basics, the majority of time is spent answering attendee questions.

We did not get to answer all of the questions live during the session. You can access a document that has the unasked questions and their responses here: Questions from the Webinar - Preparing for an AASHTO resource Remote Assessment December 2020
