  • AASHTO Accreditation Policy on Aggregate Correction Factors as described in AASHTO T 152 and ASTM C231

The "AASHTO T152 and ASTM C231: Aggregate Correction Factors for Concrete Air Content Determinations Using Pressure Meters" clarifies how laboratories should determine and apply the aggregate correction factor required by AASHTO T 152 and ASTM C231. It outlines AASHTO Accreditation Program expectations for compliant practice and resolving related nonconformities. Until updates are made within ASTM C231, this document serves as the essential reference for accredited laboratories.

  • Policy Update: Use of Ratings from Non-Consecutive Rounds

    The AASHTO Accreditation Program has clarified its suspension policy regarding consecutive low ratings when current round ratings are suppressed. For example, since ratings for the 2025 Hot Mix Gyratory Proficiency Samples were suppressed, the 2024 and 2026 results will be used to determine any potential suspensions.

  • Accreditation Rules for Sample Transfer Depot

    We have discovered that some testing laboratories have sought laboratory accreditation for facilities that primarily serve as sample transfer depots rather than fully-operational testing laboratories. AASHTO Accreditation is strictly reserved for testing laboratories and does not extend to sample transfer depots. The AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP) has been actively identifying and removing such facilities from the program as they are discovered.

    Effective January 1, 2024, the AASHTO re:source Laboratory Assessment Program (LAP) will implement a new hourly-rate fee structure for on-site assessments. This replaces the current half-day fee structure and is a more accurate and fair representation of our staff's time spent at your laboratory. This change was made in part due to feedback received from customers on potential inaccuracies of the half-day fee structure.

    Participants that do not pay their annual PSP invoice within 30 days of receipt will have their enrollment cancelled. Because of the amount of time it takes our staff to reenroll participants, if your lab’s enrollment is cancelled and needs to be reenrolled, you will be charged a fee of $100.
